Do you supply a chair?
We do not supply chairs at events, if you do require a chair fold-up camping chairs are best.
Do you have electricity?
No, we do not have any electricity given the nature of 'pop-up' events. We also do not allow the use of generators on site. All of our traders run off either batteries or gas.
Cancellation Policy?
This can be found in our terms and conditions, if you need to cancel please do so as soon as possible.
What happens after I book?
You'll receive set-up information a few days prior to the market along with a map the day before with your stall location. Layouts are subject to change on the day as we do sometimes run into unforeseen circumstances. You must set up where we have allocated you a pitch on the day, please do not move your stall location without speaking to a member of the team.
I've booked a general stall, can I sell food to enjoy on-site?
No food can be served for on site consumption on a general stall. We have specific hot food stalls to serve on-site consumption food, therefore nothing warm / with utensils can be served nor can food be prepared specifically per customer. If you have any queries please contact the team.
Licensing -
We cover the market rights and TENs, you do not need to submit any licensing yourself. Alcohol stalls must have a Challenge 25 sign though.
Insurance, do I need it?
Yes, all stalls must have a minimum of £5 million public liability insurance. The cost varies depending on what cover you require, but cover starts from around £50 for the year. You must also have employer liability if you hire staff.
What do I need to do if I'm a food trader?
You must be registered as a food business with your local council before you start trading. It is vital you receive a food hygiene rating from your local council as soon as possible. Salford Council require all traders to hold a valid food hygiene rating so you won't be able to trade at Salford University without one.
Booking Information -
All traders must fill in the new trader application form before booking with us online. After completing this form we will be in touch and from there you can request the passcode to book specific events.
New trader advice -
Here's a little info for tips and tricks for setting up at your first market.
Have a float - people pay in cash sometimes so it's good to have a float to be able to give change!
Have a card machine - you can sign up to the likes of Square, Sum Up, and IZettle with no monthly fee. Card machines are around £30 or if you have a newer iPhone or Android you can use your phone as your card machine. Make sure you sort this in time before a market as sometimes it takes a while to verify your bank account.
Shop around for public liability! Have a look at CMTIA, NMTF, Direct Line and comparison sites.
Lighting - it's always worth having additional lighting for your stall, especially in winter months. Have a look at rechargeable lighting you can use within your display to showcase your stall.
Dressing for a market - layers are always a good option. Make sure you have a good winter coat for the colder months and a good pair of comfortable shoes. Standing on a rubber mat with reduce the coldness in your feet.
Hand warmers are a lifesaver for those freezing days, you can buy multipacks online.
Decorations - the nicer your stall looks the more likely you are to SELL!
